BIO
Jarrah Gurrie was born and raised on the Victorian Surfcoast of Australia. He is a Graduate of Melbourne University and has an MFA in Film and Television from Tisch School of the Arts, New York.
Jarrah’s first short ‘Bright Lights’ was the winner of Best Film and Best Director at the inaugural Shootout Geelong Festival in 2004. Recent shorts- ‘Cabalerno’ ‘The Companionist’ and ‘Center of the Universe’ have screened on US cable television and have been distributed in Europe and the US on DVD. Jarrah was one of the Directors of the Melbourne based collaborative feature ‘Little Deaths’ – winner 2008 DigiSPAA Producers Award and screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival. In September 2008 Jarrah was a Student Jury Member of the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain.
Jarrah’s editing work includes the feature ‘Pete Smalls is Dead’ by Alexandre Rockwell as well as numerous Short Films and Music Videos. He currently works out of his Brooklyn, NY studio as a Director, Editor and Photographer.
Jarrah’s work usually deals with longing for something that is just out of reach.
