Bio
Jarrah is a director, producer and editor. His filmmaking prior to studying at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York founded his unconventional style - working on films that more often than not had a budget of under $200.
Originally from Geelong, Australia- his first short ‘Bright Lights’ (with Genevieve Bailey) won Best Film & Director at the Shootout 24hr Film Festival, 2004 in Geelong- going on to screen internationally. He was Triple J’s filmmaker of the month in April 2004.
His shorts ‘Cabalerno', ‘Companionist’ and ‘Center of the Universe’ & 'Indi' have screened at 200+ international festivals as well as gaining Cable and DVD distribution. Jarrah directed an episode of ‘Little Deaths’ (2008 DigiSPAA Producers Award) a collaborative feature, which screened at the Melbourne Film Festival.
In 2008 he was a Student Jury Member at the San Sebastian Film Festival. He recently completed editing ‘Pete Smalls is Dead’, a feature directed by Alexandre Rockwell.
Jarrah is in his final year of the Graduate Film & TV Program at the prestigious Tisch, New York University. Prior to this he completed a Bachelor of Creative Arts at Melbourne University and one year of the Foundation Acting Program at VCA, Melbourne.
It is important for Jarrah to work with people from different age groups, experiences, backgrounds, sexualities and cultures. He thrives on the challenges that filmmaking can bring and enjoys the pressure of making projectswith a fast turnaround time.
Jarrah is currently developing feature projects as well as pursuing TV Commercial and Music Video jobs.
