Bio

Jarrah is a director, cinematographer and editor. His filmmaking prior to studying at the Tisch School of the Arts in New York founded his unconventional style  - working on films that more often than not had a budget of under $400.

As well as being enticed by other peoples’ true stories through doco making, his narrative films have been described as possessing doco flavoured qualities. Jarrah also enjoys making music videos and has collaborated with artists as diverse as QBoy, The Rumours and James Reyne.

He likes to tell simple stories in not so simple ways. It is important to him to work with people from different age groups, experiences, backgrounds, sexualities and cultures. He thrives on the challenges that filmmaking can bring and enjoys the pressure of making films in under 24 hours.

The autobiographical themes presented in some of his work have resonated well with audiences. His recent works examine issues of gender and male role models (Webster Say), grieving (Indi), physical abuse and escapism (From Here), leaving a loved one (Bright Lights) and the anxiety and excitement of waiting for someone (One More Sleep)

Cabalerno, a film about a first crush between two boys, is now available on DVD through Picture This! Entertainment. Center of the Universe is currently playing on the international film festival circuit and can be seen on Logo TV (USA) in September.

Jarrah is currently developing feature projects as well as pursuing TV Commercial and Music Video jobs.
